Lecturer - GEOG 110: Introduction to Physical Geography (Fall 2026)

About the role
The Department is seeking lecturers to teach a lower-division physical science general education (5A) course in physical geography. The course examines the Earth's place in the solar system, seasonal and latitudinal distribution of solar energy, weather, climate, vegetation, soils, major landforms, and their shaping processes, and the Earth's water system. This course fulfills the Earth Science content requirement for candidates in the Elementary Subject Matter Preparation Program.
Responsibilities
- Teach a lower-division physical science general education (5A) course in physical geography
- Analyze the Earth's place in the solar system, seasonal and latitudinal distribution of solar energy, weather, climate, vegetation, soils, major landforms, and their shaping processes, and the Earth's water system
- Fulfill the Earth Science content requirement for candidates in the Elementary Subject Matter Preparation Program
Requirements
- A master’s degree in Geography, Earth Science, or a related field
- Evidence of specialization in physical geography or earth systems science
- Higher education teaching experience in geography courses
Preferred Qualifications
- A doctorate in Geography, Earth Science, or a related field
- Higher education teaching experience in general education science courses
- Demonstrated intercultural competence and commitment to serving a diverse campus community
Salary
Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
