About the role
The Department of Data Analytics and Information Systems (DAIS) in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University invites applications for a non-tenure-track, nine-month Lecturer (4–4 teaching load) position, with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026. This position is based on the Logan campus and primarily involves in-person instruction.
Responsibilities
- Teach and continually refine a required undergraduate course in Professional Communication with AI.
- Integrate advanced business writing, persuasion, research, and AI-enabled workflows to support career readiness across all business majors.
- Coach students in persuasive written, oral, and visual communication.
- Teach and model effective teamwork and professional collaboration, including communication in team-based and AI-supported environments.
- Design learning experiences that help students use generative AI strategically and ethically in professional work.
- Guide students in producing executive-style deliverables, research briefs, presentations, and career materials.
- Incorporate experiential learning elements that mirror real-world business communication.
- Engage in ongoing course research and development to keep pace with emerging AI tools, communication technologies, and employer expectations.
- Provide rigorous, developmental feedback on student work; foster collaboration within the classroom; participate in department and university service; and contribute to a collegial, student-centered academic environment.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Communication, Communication Studies, Business Administration, Management, Marketing, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching business communication, professional writing, or related subjects.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and content development skills.
- Demonstrated experience or evidence of application in exploring and applying generative AI to business communication and professional workflows.
- Strong understanding of audience-centered communication and organizational decision-making.
- Demonstrated interest and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and mentoring.
