Course description
This course introduces business analytics concepts and tools used in various business functions. It consists of two distinct parts: predictive and prescriptive modeling/analytics.
- Predictive analytics covers the use of statistical data to understand and solve business problems. Topics include a review of descriptive statistics tools, hypothesis testing, ANOVA, and simple/multiple regression analysis. Statistical data-mining models are also discussed.
- Prescriptive analytics covers deterministic optimization models. Statistical software and spreadsheet optimization are introduced.
Requirements
- A master’s degree in business administration or a related discipline
- Active current industry experience in an analytics-related position
- Employment is contingent on working in the State of California per the CSU Out-of-State Employment Policy
Qualifications
- A doctorate or equivalent
- Previous teaching experience at a four-year university and/or community college
- Demonstrated intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community
Pay
Anticipated hiring range: $5,507 – $6,677 per full-time month (Lecturer A – Academic Year classification).
