Lease Accountant
Role Summary
The Lease Accountant is responsible for managing and accounting for all lease-related transactions, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards (ASC 842 / IFRS 16), and supporting accurate financial reporting and audit requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze lease agreements (real estate, equipment, etc.).
- Determine proper lease classification and accounting treatment.
- Calculate and record: Lease liabilities, Right-of-use (ROU) assets, Amortization schedules and interest expense.
- Prepare monthly lease-related journal entries (rent expense, amortization, interest).
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities.
- Ensure all lease transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Reconciliations & Controls
- Reconcile lease-related GL accounts (ROU assets, lease liabilities, prepaid rent, deposits).
- Maintain accurate lease subledger and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements.
- Lease Portfolio Management
- Maintain lease database and ensure data accuracy.
- Track lease modifications, renewals, and terminations.
- Collaborate with Real Estate, Legal, Procurement, and AP teams to gather lease information.
- Financial Analysis & Support
- Support budgeting and forecasting for lease-related expenses.
- Provide variance analysis and reporting insights.
Compensation
A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000 - 90,000 + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
