Learning Lab Coordinator, Communications
About This Role
Responsible for oversight of daily operations of programs and services within the tutoring lab in the area of discipline. Develops, evaluates, and orders lab or program materials and resources. Reviews lab materials and evaluates usefulness of lab resources on a periodic basis to ensure accuracy of information. Collaborates with managers and faculty in the development of programs and services.
Acceptable education required in one of the following related areas: English, Secondary Education or greater, Communication, Journalism, TESOL, Reading, Developmental Education, Language Arts, Business, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or a similar applicable field of study. Acceptable related experience to include, but not limited to, teaching, tutoring, training or adult education, developmental education, or curriculum development.
Responsibilities
- Establish the schedule and supervision of assigned lab and its operations.
- Guide, lead, review, verify, observe, and evaluate the work of direct and indirect reports.
- Develop and train staff.
- Perform needs analysis, arrange, coordinate, deliver, evaluate, and monitor staff development.
- Coordinate resources with textbook and course syllabus to ensure a successful program.
- Create lab materials and evaluate usefulness of lab resources on a periodic basis to ensure accuracy of information.
- Act as liaison with departments within area of discipline.
- Encourage use of the lab by students through communication with faculty and development of lab orientation programs.
- Ensure lab services meet the needs of students and instructors.
- Tutor and mentor students in the lab, especially within discipline of expertise.
- Participate as active member within the assigned clusters and collaborate with department chairs.
- Work with faculty and academic leadership team to design, develop, and implement professional programming in support of academic and student success.
- Maintain and enhance current knowledge of field or profession.
- Travel to training workshops, conferences, meetings and professional events outside of college locations, as needed.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree within specific subject area related to the position.
- Two years of related experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional or similar application.
- Ability to deliver a high level of customer service.
- Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management.
- Promote cooperative behavior and team efforts.
- Convey knowledge of tutorial discipline to others in a practical and comprehensive manner.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service.
- Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Research information for problem solving.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
- Regular physical attendance required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within an educational environment.
- Tutoring experience within subject area.
- Supervisory experience.
- College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification.

Pay
The minimum base pay for this position starts at $44,587.00 annually; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
