About the Role

Facilitates a defined range of targeted skill-building programs and courses supporting the development of employees. Conducts new hire to intermediate-level training. May provide subject matter expertise to the Enterprise Learning function during design and development phases of learning programs. Provides feedback on classes to the Master Learning Facilitator to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of content and learning objectives. Works with others to implement minor changes and improvements. May be considered a Master Learning Facilitator.

Nature of subject matter may require specialized knowledge to support lines of business. Responsible for demonstrating consultative facilitation skills, managing risk, and driving a positive customer experience while operating within the Bank’s risk appetite.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates training via classroom and/or distance learning technology to meet performance objectives; creates an environment that stimulates learning and skill development.
  • Masters training content for new hire to intermediate-level employees; consults subject matter experts and other resources to enhance content knowledge.
  • Uses the facilitator’s guide and training materials as a guide rather than a script; adjusts program outline and schedule as necessary.
  • Proactively prepares for assigned classes, utilizing the Master Learning Facilitator and other resources.
  • Establishes credibility with the audience by knowing the content, providing relevant examples, and linking material to participants’ job experiences.
  • Tailors delivery to meet differing needs, interests, and experience levels among participants.
  • Actively seeks evidence of audience engagement and comprehension; provides coaching in the moment as necessary.
  • Uses a variety of questioning techniques to engage participants.
  • Connects learning objectives to line of business goals in the classroom.
  • Presents information clearly and logically, emphasizing key points to increase learning and incorporating adult learning principles.
  • Actively involves all participants, encouraging an open exchange of ideas.
  • Maintains control over the learning environment by managing challenging participants, minimizing distractions, and monitoring class pace.
  • Uses participants as resources; elicits experiences and examples from participants and builds on their knowledge.
  • Participates in special projects for Lines of Business and Bancorp initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strong facilitation and/or presentation skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience; education or corporate training experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory or classroom management experience, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Ability to relate to and work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and personalities.
  • Models the skills and behaviors being taught; demonstrates Fifth Third’s vision, values, and competencies.
  • Moderate knowledge of adult learning principles and practices.
  • Provides positive and constructive feedback to guide employees to desired performance.
  • Effectively coaches across organizational levels.
  • Understands the development of skills required for effective performance, including needs assessment, training design, delivery, evaluation, coaching, and experience-based development.
  • Team-oriented and flexible; adaptable to a virtual team environment.
  • Views learning as a way to drive performance improvement.

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, or temperature variations.
  • Overnight business travel required.
  • Lifting and physical requirements of up to 25 pounds (e.g., moving tables, chairs, equipment, and carrying materials).
  • Physical ability to operate training equipment (e.g., PCs, projectors, easels).

Pay

The base salary for this position reflects the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, experience, education, and geographic location. This role is also eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with payments based on company, line of business, and/or individual performance.
