Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) connects Minnesotans to services that improve their lives. This position joins a dynamic and agile Human Resources Team of 24 professionals in Labor Relations, Safety, Recruitment, Staffing, HRIS, Transactions, and Learning and Development.
About the role
As a Learning and Development Specialist, you will support the Learning and Development team by assisting with the development, design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs, services, initiatives, and events. Responsibilities include supporting the learning management system (LMS), SharePoint and intranet site, coordinating communications, logistics, data accuracy, and purchasing support.
This is a temporary, full-time position anticipated to last until June 30, 2027, and includes full state fringe benefits. The role requires working onsite at 600 N Robert St, St Paul, Minnesota at least 20% of the time, with limited telework available. Telework eligibility depends on residence:
- Candidates living in Minnesota or within 50 miles of the worksite in a bordering state (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin) may telework up to 50%.
- Minnesota residents living more than 50 miles from the worksite may be eligible to telework more than 50%.
- Candidates living 50 miles or more from the worksite in a bordering state may work onsite 100% or may be telework eligible if relocating within 50 miles.
Responsibilities
- Support and coordinate organization-wide employee training and leadership development programs, both virtually and in person.
- Assist with the development, design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs, services, initiatives, and events.
- Maintain and support the learning management system (LMS), SharePoint, and intranet site.
- Coordinate communications, logistics, data accuracy, and purchasing support for the Learning and Development team.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of detail.
- Communicate clearly and effectively to facilitate mutual understanding.
- Use a customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving.
Requirements
- A minimum of one (1) year of professional experience supporting learning and development.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite products (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook) or similar tools.
- Experience with a learning management system (LMS).
- A master’s or bachelor’s degree in training & development, human resources, education, psychology, communications, organizational development, or a closely related field may substitute for 1 year of experience; an associate’s degree may substitute for six (6) months of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing user-friendly and accessible materials.
- Experience with reporting software (e.g., BI, Access).
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Human Resource Development, Data Analysis, Organizational Development, Instructional Design, or a related field.
- Experience with e-learning, training and development methodologies, instructional design, and adult learning theories.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data.
Pay
$26.12 - $37.91 / hourly; $54,538 - $79,156 / annually.
