Learning Behavior Specialist Teacher

About the role

Candidate will be responsible for the case management of Individualized Education Plans for students in grades 4-6. Candidate will monitor and update goals while applying necessary instructional strategies for students to meet their set goals.

Responsibilities

  • Displays an understanding of the philosophical, historical, and legal foundations of special education.
  • Provides opportunities that support the intellectual, social, and personal development of all students.
  • Uses various assessment strategies to support the continuous development of all students.
  • Designs instruction based on knowledge of the discipline, students, community, curriculum, and individualized education program (I.E.P.) goals.
  • Creates a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation.
  • Uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage students' development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills and creates learning environments in which students actively participate.
  • Fosters active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interactions among professionals, parents, paraprofessionals, and students.
  • Collaborates with a team, including families, to develop and implement individualized education programs (I.E.P.).
  • Maintains standards of professional conduct, and provides leadership to improve students' learning and well-being.
  • Continually evaluates how choices and actions affect students, parents, and other professionals in the learning community.
  • Plans purposeful tasks and assignments for instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s), and (as appropriate) evaluates job performance in cooperation with the building principal.
  • Respects confidentiality and maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Adheres to the published policies and procedures of the district.
