About the Role

The Learning and Development and Process Manager at Jimerson Birr operates at the intersection of professional growth and operational excellence, earning the autonomy to build a training function that matches the firm’s ambitions for its people. This role is responsible for developing and administering JB University’s curriculum, owning the onboarding experience for every new hire, and implementing the technology, documentation, and processes that enable attorneys and staff to perform at their best.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and administer the JB Training Program aligned with JB University, ensuring objectives are met and coordinating training evaluations and certifications.
  • Oversee the creation and quality control of Learning Management System (LMS) technology and content to align with firm standards, conducting regular audits of training materials and job descriptions.
  • Organize, staff, and coordinate all aspects of the Professional Development Committee.
  • Manage the development and quality control of orientation and onboarding content for the LMS, ensuring materials are up-to-date and tracking employee progress from the outset.
  • Oversee the execution of the onboarding process, monitoring task completion by subject-matter experts (SMEs) and ensuring a smooth transition of new hires to their respective supervisors.
  • Develop and maintain training technology platforms, including LMS 365 and training dashboards to monitor program-wide and individual progress.
  • Oversee the creation and ongoing management of comprehensive training calendars within the LMS.
  • Coordinate and manage "Training Tuesdays," organizing logistics and scheduling for advanced and firm-wide training sessions, including meals and snacks.
  • Design and implement soft skills and firm-wide training programs using a blend of LMS content and expert group instruction.
  • Liaise with external vendors to supplement training needs and host events at the firm’s premises.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify skill gaps and design tailored curriculum programs to address them.
  • Oversee the documentation of core processes to ensure operational procedures are standardized, accessible, and tied to accountability charts and job descriptions.
  • Maintain compliance for legal licensure, Continuing Legal Education (CLE), and board certification, and manage the associated budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Education, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in learning and development, training program management, or organizational development, ideally within a law firm or other professional services environment.
  • Hands-on experience administering a Learning Management System (e.g., LMS 365, Trainual, or comparable platform), including content development, progress tracking, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct needs assessments and design curriculum for both technical/legal skills and soft-skills training, from concept through evaluation.
  • Strong process orientation, with experience standardizing procedures, documentation, and accountability structures across a team or department.
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives, vendor relationships, and event logistics simultaneously.
  • Methodical, detail-oriented, and structured work style; ability to build reliable systems rather than reacting to constant urgency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the presence to engage attorneys and staff at all levels of the firm.
  • Experience tracking professional licensure, CLE, or board certification compliance and managing an associated budget is a plus.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and professional development opportunities.
  • Supportive work environment dedicated to fostering success.
  • Collegial and professional atmosphere within an award-winning firm culture.
  • Recognition as one of Florida’s “Best Companies to Work For” by Florida Trend Magazine (seven consecutive years).
