LEAP Manufacturing Internship – Starting Summer 2027

Our LEAP (Leadership, Experiences, Applications, Performance) Program is dedicated to developing the skills and competencies of its associates. Through this internship opportunity, you will gain exposure to our brands and products, how we measure financial success, Lean thinking methodologies, and the core processes that drive our business.

About the role

This 10-12 week internship offers in-depth experience in the specialty door industry while developing your leadership skills. You will work within a manufacturing facility with opportunities in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Customer Service, or Quality. The program provides experiential learning through day-to-day fieldwork, special project ownership, and formal presentation opportunities. You will learn from associates and leaders, including Executive Leadership, and be assigned a mentor for industry and career advice. Additionally, you will have access to our Talent Management Software, offering over 23,000 e-learning courses for personal and professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Gain a strong understanding of how your area of study applies in a manufacturing environment through training, process shadows, and on-the-job experience.
• Develop and strengthen competencies required for your internship.
• Take ownership to identify trends and recommend solutions within your area of focus.
• Lead and/or participate in projects: define objectives, develop project plans, create agendas, facilitate meetings, manage timelines and deliverables, communicate updates, and create contingency plans.
• Complete financial and/or data analysis as required.
• Deliver superior customer service (internally or externally).
• Interact with corporate leadership, customers, vendors/suppliers, and employees to solve problems.
• Implement actions that protect company assets and profitability.
• Enhance communication skills to effectively interact with customers, contractors, and co-workers.
• Develop conflict resolution and relationship management skills.
• Stay current with industry and macroeconomic trends by reading publications.
• Demonstrate self-motivation and initiative.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interface effectively with customers and employees.
• Ability and desire to work in a hands-on, industrial environment.
• Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive meaningful results.
• Strong academic record.
• Demonstrated proficiency in critical thinking, leadership, business acumen, project management, relationship building, and teamwork through extracurricular activities, work experience, or academics.
• Previous internship and/or co-op experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of Adobe products is a plus.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship for employment visa status.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Typical office work environment with exposure to industrial settings.
