Leadership Development Director

SustainED Leaders is a nonprofit organization focused on transformational leadership in public education so that all children can attend a school where the adults have the courage, commitment, and capacity to maximize learning and growth for all students. The organization designs and delivers training and personalized coaching to aspiring and existing school leaders, focusing on accelerating learning for all students and supporting leadership teams to implement high-quality curriculum materials.

About the role

The Leadership Development Director will train, coach, and support education leaders and leadership teams to lead continuous instructional improvement in schools by implementing the highest-leverage evidence-based practices that build teachers’ capacity and accelerate all students’ learning and growth.

Responsibilities

• Develop & Refine Coaching and Training Tools
  • Internalize the SustainED Leaders’ leadership development programs and coaching model
  • Develop online and physical coaching tools and frameworks to be used in daily and weekly coaching
  • Design in-person and/or virtual training materials
  • Plan and prepare for each side-by-side coaching experience
  • Create and refine coaching tools and frameworks that support leaders and teachers to internalize and implement research-based curriculum
  • Build coaching tools that leaders can use to support the implementation and management of cultural, data, and instructional systems
  • Create and/or refine weekly coaching agendas and coaching plans for ongoing coaching
• Coach & Develop Education Leaders
  • Engage in regular in-person coaching visits with leaders and leadership teams
  • Develop trusting relationships with each education leader and leadership team
  • Review student data and student work to measure and monitor students’ learning
  • Utilize and manage coaching trackers that track progress of leaders and teachers’ progress
  • Support leaders and leadership teams to internalize research-based curriculum
  • Report and work closely with the Executive Director and other team members to plan and execute training, coaching, and other development activities for education leaders
  • Provide remote support to leaders that empowers them to enhance the quality of instruction
  • Deliver in-person and/or virtual training sessions
• Strategic Partner
  • Meet with school and district leaders to establish partnerships
  • Partner with SustainED Leaders’ team to design and develop programming
  • Collaborate with SustainED Leaders’ team to determine highest leverage strategic decisions for programming
• Evaluate Program
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of coaching and development
  • Refine and redesign coaching and training based on data to increase effectiveness

Requirements

• Graduate degree in education
• A minimum of two years teaching experience
• A minimum of four years working as a school leader and one year working as a school principal
• Demonstrated track record of developing teachers and leaders to accelerate learning for all students

Qualifications

• A minimum of three years experience as a principal and a track record of coaching and developing other leaders to accelerate learning and growth for all students
• A demonstrated record improving student outcomes as a school leader
• A results orientation and commitment to holding self and others accountable for maximizing learning and growth for all students
• The ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as inter- and intra-personal skills
• Experience managing or coaching teachers and/or school leaders to achieve ambitious goals
• Demonstrated academic achievement as a teacher and school leader
• Significant experience using data to achieve academic results
• Deeply held belief that all children can learn and achieve at high levels regardless of race, gender, or socio-economic background
• Desire to play a major role in the growth and evolution of a transformative startup organization
