Leadership and Student Organizations Coordinator

This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Student Involvement.

About the role

The Leadership and Student Organizations Coordinator will work closely with other professionals on the Involvement Team within the Student Life and Engagement department to manage the administrative and programmatic portfolio. The Coordinator leads and manages the operations of the Office of Leadership and Student Organizations. This role develops and implements support programs for student organizations, plans activities and events for students to learn leadership development skills, and works to engage students on campus and in the community.

Responsibilities

• Plan and host signature programs on behalf of the Office of Leadership and Student Organizations, such as The Rocky's Leadership Award Ceremony, Un-Bull-ievable Service Break, and Get on Board Day.
• Create and provide learning experiences for all students which promote leadership education and skill development, preparing students to lead and function in a diverse and global society.
• Incorporate current theories, philosophies, and best practices to engage students with leadership development.
• Serve as the primary representative of the office to the campus and community.
• Hire, train, and supervise all office personnel.
• Create, manage, and administer all office budgets and operating funds.
• Maintain all equipment, supplies, and materials of the department, including the resource library.
• Serve on the OneUSF Student Engagement Platform team as the manager for the St. Petersburg campus.
• Coordinate the recruitment and recognition of new student organizations.
• Serve as the primary contact for all student organizations.
• Develop and provide training programs for all student organizations and organization leaders.
• Coordinate and oversee student organizations' fiscal and business processes and functions.
• Serve as a primary contact for all student organizations' purchasing operations.
• Coordinate and collaborate with Student Government on all fiscal and business training programs for student organization leaders.
• Assist with marketing, website maintenance, developing and implementing programs to foster traditions on campus, and fundraising.
• Establish assessment methods to verify learning and effectiveness of initiatives and programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, with at least one year of related experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or 2 years of experience working in higher education.

Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education: A public employer may substitute direct experience for a postsecondary degree as follows: two years for an associate degree, four years for a bachelor’s degree, six years for a master’s degree, seven years for a professional degree, or nine years for a doctoral degree. Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration.

This position may require a Level 1 or Level 2 background screening prior to employment.
