The Coordinator of Student Organizations in Student Life plays a pivotal role in supporting this mission by developing, advising, and engaging student organizations. This position facilitates space requests, coaches leaders on event management, collaborates with student and full-time staff, and coordinates relevant programs to ensure meaningful student experiences while maintaining compliance with university policies.
Responsibilities
- Student Organization Support: Provide coaching and assistance to student organizations in areas such as organization management, program planning, leadership development, risk management, and understanding university policies and procedures.
- Space Reservations & Event Administration: Oversee and manage indoor space reservations for student organizations and departments, serving as the technology liaison for the reservation system. Process administrative requests while ensuring compliance with Institutional Rules, risk management guidelines, and other relevant policies for indoor and outdoor events.
- Event Consultation: Conduct event consultations for both indoor and outdoor student organization events, collaborating with campus partners on event logistics, reservations, and necessary referrals.
- Program Planning & Assessment: Lead and collaborate in the planning and implementation of programs within Student Organizations, including large-scale event coordination, workshops, and skills training. Build assessment and evaluation tools to measure and track event and program impact.
- Student Staff Supervision: Participate in the hiring, training, and support of graduate and/or undergraduate student staff as part of the Student Organizations events team, in collaboration with a second Coordinator and Assistant Director.
- Special Projects & Committees: Assist in special assignments and committees on behalf of Student Organizations, Student Life, Texas Student Experience, or other campus partners as requested.
- Perform other related functions as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and experience developing, administering, and implementing programs for college students.
- Experience advising student groups, in student personnel, or student services.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, administration, and external stakeholders.
- Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including presentations, written correspondence, and reports.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in student affairs administration or a related field.
- At least two years of professional experience working with student groups to provide advising, program planning, interpretation of institutional policies, risk management, and leadership development opportunities.
- Experience with event planning and risk management concepts related to student organizations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage concurrent tasks.
- Independent decision-making and problem-solving ability.
- Knowledge of student development theory and experience with student affairs assessment or program evaluation.
- Demonstrated strategic and innovative approaches to problem-solving.
- Experience supervising professional and para-professional staff.
- Experience building partnerships and collaborating across departments in a post-secondary institution.

Pay
$58,750 (non-negotiable)
