About the role
A Lead/Trainer position is available to oversee the daily activities and responsibilities of assigned shift personnel and shift duties within a 24/7/365 traffic operations control room located in Omaha, NE. This position also develops and delivers a comprehensive and innovative training program in support of daily control room operations.
Responsibilities
- Managing and logging traffic incidents in an advanced transportation management system software
- Cooking and dispatching incident response crews to incidents in a safe, timely and efficient manner
- Detecting, confirming, and tracking equipment failures affecting control room operations (e.g., central system, computers, CCTV cameras, digital message signs, etc.)
- Coordinating with local, regional, and statewide stakeholders on all control room activities by providing essential and timely incident information and status
- Informing first responders of traffic related incidents involving injury and assisting with coordination of lane closures and diversion routes
- Coordinating incidents (to include traffic signal system malfunctions) with local municipalities for resolution and information dissemination
- Overseeing shift scheduling and compliance with attendance policies in conjunction with senior managers
- Coordinate and track all assigned employee training for initial and recurrent training
- Lead and/or participate in post-incident analysis
- Technical development of initial and recurrent training programs related to Control Room Operations in a traffic operations environment
- Design and implementation of a formal, computer-based multi-level position certification program
- Collaboration with national training program content designers in the development of training materials
- Administrative management of staff training files
- Preparation and delivery of reports on training status and results (report and metric formats) to mid and upper-level management
- Design and implementation of an operations employee performance auditing program
- Implementation of an employee award and recognition program based on successful completion of initial and recurrent training programs
- Training facilitation to include materials development, curriculum design and training delivery
- Other ad-hoc employee proficiency initiatives as assigned by the Program Manager
- Readily assume duties of Control Room Operator when needed to fill staffing shortages
Requirements
- High School + 2 or more years prior experience as a Traffic Monitoring Operator or other related experience
- Ability to work a highly flexible schedule to meet the training needs within a 24/7/365 operation with rotating schedules
- Driver’s license is in good standing
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience in training program development and administrative management, 2 years minimum
- Competence in MS Office products
- Technical writing skills to include grammar editing and content flow
- Innovative approach to training program design and delivery
- Public speaking and presentation skills
- Time management experience
- Prior experience working in a fast paced, technology infused environment
