Lead Technician - Rockwall

The Role

The Lead Ophthalmic Technician assists the Clinic Manager in supervising Ophthalmic Assistants and Diagnostic Technicians, supports the Clinic Manager with administrative and clinical operations, represents Key-Whitman Eye Centers positively, creates a high-accountability work environment, performs direct patient care, and performs various diagnostic and procedural tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assists Clinic Manager in supervising Ophthalmic Assistants and Diagnostic Technicians
• Supports Clinic Manager with day-to-day administrative and clinical operations
• Represents Key-Whitman Eye Centers positively
• Creates and sustains a highly accountable and inspired work environment
• Performs direct patient care
• Performs lensometry
• Performs diagnostic testing of the eye
• Obtains accurate patient history
• Performs functional ocular measurements
• Performs refractometry
• Administers topical ophthalmic medications
• Performs tonometry
• Maintains and sterilizes surgical instruments
• Aids in punctual plug installation
• Verbalizes post-operative instructions to patients
• Understands basic ocular pharmacology

Qualifications

• Two years of Ophthalmic Technician experience in an ophthalmology setting
• JCAHPO certification (COA/COT) preferred
• High school diploma or GED
• Successful completion of two or more years of college and/or university level courses preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in EMR and computer literacy
• Well organized and attentive to detail
• CPR preferred, but not required
• HIPAA knowledge and compliance
