About the Role

The Lead Technician I must be able to lead each phase of the mitigation and/or environmental project from the initial stage to completion. This position reports directly to the Supervisor and may be co-managed by the Project Manager and/or Branch Manager. Interfacing with other departments within the company may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular communications with key stakeholders including Branch Manager, Operations Manager, Project Manager, Supervisor, and Project Coordinator to discuss project schedules, changes in scope of work, material, and personnel resources.
  • Perform tasks to expedite job completion, including but not limited to: picking up and ordering materials, moving client contents, and performing necessary repairs while adhering to code regulations and industry standards.
  • Lead a small group of technicians, providing supervision and direction based on defined job parameters.
  • Maintain company-assigned vehicle and restock supplies as necessary.
  • Complete and turn in crew sheets and job notes at the end of each day.
  • Serve as a role model in following and enforcing company policy and safety procedures.
  • Assist in the development of technicians through mentoring, coaching, and encouraging skill development.
  • Assist in jobsite safety briefings and provide training within the scope of knowledge.
  • Complete timecards accurately and ensure crew members do the same.
  • Turn in completed work orders including measurements, moisture readings, and detailed paperwork for Project Manager to complete billing.
  • Maintain trade skills through regular training provided by the company.
  • Build knowledge of company services, operations, and standard practices to support professional growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-year experience in a lead technician role in the construction field and/or restoration/mitigation field, or equivalent experience as a Tech III.
  • Valid Driver’s License (Class C) with a driving record in good standing; must be insurable.
  • Understanding of safety guidelines and ability to apply them to daily tasks while holding crew members accountable.
  • Awareness of company handbook, policies, and SOPs, and adherence to them.
  • Ability to communicate desired outcomes and apply SOPs in daily activities.
  • Support the development of technicians through demonstration and encouragement.
  • Good knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Continuous growth mindset, open to feedback, and ability to apply learning to self and others.
  • Good grasp of the English language (reading, writing, verbal).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Able to pass a Respirator Physical and obtain a respiratory fit exam.
  • Ability to interpret and apply basic instructions (e.g., Material Data Sheets).
  • Industry certifications preferred; ability to pass medical exams if required for certification.

Safety Requirements

  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, goggles, hard hats, and safety footwear.
  • Practice ergonomic principles to prevent musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Adhere to office safety protocols, including proper use of equipment and maintaining clutter-free workspaces.
  • Complete mandatory safety training sessions (e.g., hazard communication, emergency response, safe equipment handling).
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents, or injuries to supervisors immediately.
  • Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures, including evacuation routes and emergency contacts.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Perform tasks requiring walking, bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, climbing, squatting, crawling, lifting above shoulder, and twisting.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing, with regular alternation between the two.
  • Continuous repetitive motion involving hands, wrists, or arms (e.g., typing, data entry).
  • Capacity to operate machinery and tools requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Clear vision for close work, computer use, and eye coordination.

Working Conditions

  • Indoor office setting with standard office equipment; may involve regular meetings and collaboration.
  • Outdoor fieldwork at restoration sites (residential, commercial, or industrial properties) with exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, or contaminants; strict adherence to safety protocols and PPE required.
  • Work after hours and weekends due to 24/7 business operations.
  • Travel to and from job sites using company vehicles; possibility of out-of-town training or conferences.
