About the role

Join Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced, intelligent solutions for the aerospace and defense industry. This onsite position in Carlsbad, CA, supports the creation, revision, and release of product documentation, including drawings, Model Based CAD definition, and dimensioning and tolerancing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation, revision, and release of product documentation artifacts, including drawings, Model Based CAD definition, dimensioning, and tolerancing.
  • Ensure timely release of engineering product documentation.
  • Assist optical engineers in creating optical element drawings conforming to MIL-PRF-13830 and ISO 10110 standards.
  • Assist mechanical engineers in creating documentation artifacts conforming to ASME Y14.5-2009 or greater Geometric Tolerancing principles.
  • Support all engineering disciplines in releasing product data using Windchill PDMLink and Enovia PDM tools.
  • Perform documentation and database checking for new and revised design data.
  • Provide training and mentoring to new design technicians and engineers on current procedures for design and documentation release.
  • Deliver highly skilled electro-mechanical design and documentation technical support, including project leadership in research, product design and development, testing, and manufacturing process improvement.
  • Complete design tasks with minimal involvement from project engineers, based on product parameters or design requirements.
  • Support product collateral in fabrication and manufacturing areas, including design changes and documentation revisions with minimal engineer involvement.
  • Apply knowledge of manufacturing, tolerancing, and producibility to ensure cost-effective designs.
  • Assist in determining and employing proper specifications for materials, finishes, processes, connectors, and other electrical components during the design process.
  • Provide expert-level support for CAD and data management tools to complete design tasks.
  • Validate change definition artifacts for revisions to existing designs and documentation.
  • Mentor and train new electro-mechanical designers or engineers on current procedures for design database and documentation release.

Requirements

  • AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post-high school training) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Windchill 10.2 and greater PDMLink systems.
  • High level of experience with ASME Y14.5-2009 or greater Geometric Tolerancing principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Creo Drafting and Model Based Definition experience.
  • Experience with NX and Solidworks.
  • Self-motivated team player with a strong work ethic, communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Focus on meeting product team schedules and customer deliveries.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $66,000 – $125,400 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Factors considered include role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
