About the role

Our client, a leading engineering and technology solutions provider, is seeking a highly experienced Lead Mechanical / Electrical Engineer to lead the engineering and execution of UL891 Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) Switchgear projects. This is a hands-on technical leadership role requiring close collaboration with customers, engineering teams, and manufacturing to ensure high-quality project delivery. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in switchgear design, industrial power distribution, and customer-facing project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead onsite engineering activities for UL891 Low Voltage Switchgear and Medium Voltage (MV) Switchgear projects from design through manufacturing and commissioning support.
  • Review, coordinate, and validate electrical engineering deliverables, including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), schematic drawings, protection & control systems, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
  • Review and coordinate mechanical engineering deliverables, including General Arrangement (GA) drawings, sheet metal designs, structural frames, bus enclosures, bus bars, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact between customers, engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams, ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all engineering designs comply with applicable UL891, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, and other relevant electrical and mechanical industry standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, provide technical guidance during manufacturing, resolve engineering and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) issues, and support continuous quality improvements.
  • Cook up cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule while maintaining engineering excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on complex switchgear and power distribution projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in UL891 Switchgear, Medium Voltage Switchgear, E-House, Data Center, Mission Critical, Industrial Power Distribution, or similar power systems projects.
  • Strong knowledge of switchgear engineering, power distribution systems, protection & control, and mechanical design principles.
  • Experience reviewing and approving electrical and mechanical engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry standards, including UL891, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, and NEMA.
  • Proven ability to lead engineering teams, coordinate with manufacturing, and interact directly with customers.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and manufacturing operations.
  • Background in mission-critical facilities, data centers, industrial power systems, or utility infrastructure.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on large-scale electrical equipment projects.
