Lead Technician
About the role
A local Lead Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of wind turbines, ensuring the wind farm produces reliable power. They perform a range of duties including routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, as well as climbing towers for inspections and repairs.
Responsibilities
- Routine Maintenance: Performing scheduled maintenance checks, inspections, and lubrication on wind turbine components.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with wind turbines.
- Safety: Ensuring all work activities are performed safely, adhering to safety protocols and procedures, and providing safety training.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and performance data.
- Tower Climbing: Climbing the towers in order to inspect, diagnose and repair components.
- Component Replacement: Replacing or repairing worn-out or damaged wind turbine components.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. An associate's degree in a related field is a plus. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered (I.e.: military, skilled trades). A background in wind turbine maintenance or power generation is preferred but not required.
Skills
- Safety Knowledge: An understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. Troubleshooting . Ability to diagnose and repair complex technical issues.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with other team members and supervisors.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to climb wind turbine towers and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.
- Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less as required by OSHA safety regulations.
- Valid driver's license is required for the position and the selected candidates will be subject to a DMV check.
