Job Description
Captures surgery schedules for physicians' operating rooms, ensuring sterility and patient safety.
- Coordinates times, procedure names, and consents for surgeries.
- Ensures sterility of all items in the sterile field.
- Handles surgical specimens accurately.
- Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment according to physician preferences and sterile technique.
- Validates patient and operative site, maintains accurate counts, and follows safe handling procedures.
- Maintains a safe, clean environment for patients.
- Serves as a liaison between physicians and operating room staff.
- Acts as a preceptor, coach, and resource for new team members and students.
- Increases clinical knowledge and skills independently.
- Works with equipment specialists, managers, and supply utilization specialists to ensure availability of supplies.
- Sets up the operating room with supplies and instruments.
- Communicates with the hospital surgical coordinator for instrument and supply preference sheet changes.

Education and Work Experience
- High School Grad or Equiv
- Associate Degree (Preferred)
- Technical/Vocational School (Preferred)
- Successful completion of accredited Surgical Technology program
- 1+ years or experience (Required)

- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) (Required)
- NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) (Preferred)
- OR Technician in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) (Preferred)
- OR State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) (Preferred)
- Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) (Preferred)
- OR State Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) (Preferred)
