$13.14 per hour + gratuities

About the Role

The Lead Server serves food and beverages, providing prompt and courteous service to guests in the restaurant, bar, and patio. Lead Servers take on leadership roles as requested by the Food & Beverage Manager and/or Assistant Food & Beverage Manager. This position reports to the Food & Beverage Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and serve guests in an energetic and friendly fashion
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere and provide excellent hospitality by having a working knowledge of the resort facility and dining area
  • Respond to guest questions about the menu and speak enthusiastically about other resort services
  • Write orders; relay food orders to the kitchen and beverage orders to the bartender
  • Serve food and beverages and clear tables following service etiquette and facility procedures
  • Connect with guests at assigned tables throughout the dining experience to ensure all needs are met
  • Work as a team and provide direction to other servers when directed by the Food & Beverage Manager
  • Check identification to ensure customers are of legal age to purchase alcohol
  • Handle cash and card transactions, ensure charges are accurate, and return correct change to guests
  • Notice and report potential safety issues or customer concerns to a supervisor
  • Provide training in serving and clearing etiquette, safely carrying trays, and procedures for working with kitchen and bartending staff
  • Oversee the timing for the end of employee shifts and sign out employees
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma preferred
  • One year of related server experience preferred
  • Must meet state and federal minimum age requirement for serving alcohol
  • Current Food Handlers Card and TIPS® Certification (Training for Intervention Procedures)
  • Ability to understand and implement BSRG dining standards
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide; calculate discounts and percentages
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a productive and friendly work environment
  • Ability to provide direction to coworkers in a professional and friendly manner
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memorandums
  • Ability to speak effectively and present information to guests and team members
  • Attention to detail and comfort working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected
  • Flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends

Work Environment

This position typically operates in an indoor restaurant setting but may also require work on a patio or at outdoor events, with exposure to weather conditions and occasionally native wildlife. The noise level can be loud. Outdoor environments may require walking on variable terrain while carrying items and navigating obstacles such as groups of people, table setups, decorations, plants, and natural landscapes.

  • Regularly required to see, speak, and hear
  • Very active role requiring standing and walking for most of a work shift
  • Ability to lift, balance, and carry trays weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and serving from trays
  • Frequent hand washing
  • Ability to read menus, take orders, review bills, and navigate busy work areas
  • Ability to speak clearly and understand speech in a noisy atmosphere
