Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end technical SEO across client accounts: full audits, crawl and log analysis, indexation, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, and the ability to deploy solutions or clearly communicate to our dev team what is needed.
- Lead SEO through website migrations and rebuilds: redirect mapping, pre- and post-launch validation, and traffic-loss forensics when a launch goes sideways.
- Work confidently across mixed tech stacks, including WordPress, Shopify, the occasional obscure CMS, and cannabis-specific ecommerce platforms, each with its own crawl, indexation, and tracking constraints.
- Analyze GA4, GSC, and Semrush data to identify trends and anomalies, hypothesize root causes, and validate or dismiss those hypotheses with data.
- Translate technical findings into plain-language narratives that non-SEO savvy clients understand and can act on.
- Maintain and audit measurement infrastructure across accounts: GTM container hygiene, GA4 property configuration, GSC coverage, and GBP data consistency.
- Help shape AI search visibility strategy: crawler management (training vs. live-retrieval bots), robots.txt strategy, and structured data that positions clients for AI citation based on Google and LLM documentation, not hearsay and rumors.
- Evaluate emerging tools and tactics critically, separating what actually moves the needle from marketing bloat.
- Review technical work from SEO specialists and raise the team's bar through feedback and mentorship (no direct reports).
- Communicate clearly and proactively: flag capacity issues, ask questions, and surface solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on SEO experience in a fast-paced agency environment or in-house with a large-scale brand, with demonstrable results.
- Deep, diagnostic-level fluency across GA4, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, Semrush, and Google Business Profile.
- Proven experience debugging GA4 attribution and configuring ecommerce revenue tracking through GTM: data layer events, tag/trigger/variable architecture, and cross-domain measurement.
- Technical SEO depth: audits, schema and entity optimization, Core Web Vitals, migrations, and crawl budget analysis.
- An analyst's instinct: you see a trend and immediately start forming hypotheses about what is driving it, then know how to prove or disprove them.
- The ability to explain complex technical findings to non-technical clients.
- Comfort with ambiguity: handed a problem you have never seen before, sometimes spanning platforms that were never designed to talk to each other, you work it to resolution.
- You use AI as a tool, not a crutch. The strategic thinking is yours.
