General Responsibilities
Aid residents with autism, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and acquired brain injuries with activities of daily living.
Implement prescribed teaching plans and provide safe, consistent supervision in accordance with treatment plans.
Foster growth and development for each individual to their highest level of accomplishment.
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure all direct client care responsibilities are completed and active treatment is occurring during shift.
- Check daily on general health, hygiene, and physical appearance of each resident.
- Bath residents and ensure they are appropriately groomed daily.
- Maintain resident clothing in a neat, clean, and appropriate state.
- Promptly report any concerns to the manager.
- Maintain appropriate levels of supervision for residents at all times.
- Inventorize house supplies weekly and report any needs to the manager.
- Maintain minimum supply levels at all times.
- Prepare and oversee resident meals according to the established menu and safe cooking practices.
- Complete Mealtime Training Routine in a family style manner.
- Encourage quiet mealtime conversations and adhere to eating precaution plans and special diets as ordered.
- Review the Activities Schedule daily and ensure activities take place as planned.
- Notify the manager if circumstances may prevent or change scheduled activities.
- Review staffing schedules and notify the manager if required staffing levels are not maintained.
- Assist with finding additional staff coverage upon request.
- Conduct a daily review to ensure all required documentation is completed for the shift.
- Review compliance by the end of the shift to ensure documentation is being completed and report any concerns to the manager.
- Conduct Lead Staff rounds on a weekly basis and document as required.
- Provide on-site orientation and mentoring for new staff.
- Work with the Manager and Quality/Performance Specialist to provide ongoing training for current staff.
- Assist with interviewing and hiring new staff upon request.
- Attend job fairs when requested.
- Share positive feedback with staff via Applause Cards and inform the manager of positive feedback shared.
- Notify the manager of any potential concerns regarding staff performance or conduct in a timely manner.
- Coordinate appropriate access to purchasing cards for house and client needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and order of the facility, resident area, and closets/drawers.
- Report any need for facility repairs to the manager immediately.
- Review vehicle maintenance weekly and report any issues or need for vehicle repair immediately to the manager.
- Assist with conducting fire safety/drills according to regulatory requirements as needed.
- Ensure fire safety regulatory compliance.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Some college credit is preferred but not required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a direct care position.
- Strong communication skills both written and oral.
- Strong interpersonal skills required.
- Successfully complete Advanced Safety Care, ABA Training, Medication Administration, Approved Driver, and CPR Training.
