About the role

As a Lead Respiratory Therapist at Doctors Hospital of Augusta, you’ll guide patients through routine care and critical moments, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while managing invasive and noninvasive ventilation across various care settings. You’ll have access to advanced respiratory technology, mentorship from experienced RT leaders, and the support of a collaborative team. Responsibilities

  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways.
  • Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider of unintended responses, intervening as appropriate.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
  • Respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation.

Requirements

  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) certification.
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist license.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date).
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date).
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
