About the role

23andMe is seeking a product leader to own the consumer health experience that integrates deep genetic information with various health data sources. The focus is on the AI-powered Health Summary, which synthesizes data from genetics, blood labs, electronic health records, surveys, and wearables into a clear, evolving health overview for users. This role involves ensuring the Summary is trustworthy and actionable, while also managing the privacy and regulatory aspects of the data.

Responsibilities

  • Own the AI Health Summary and the health app home screen, including what gets surfaced, how insights are framed, and engagement metrics.
  • Partner with data pipelines and science teams to connect EHR and wearable data, ensuring members find connecting their data worthwhile.
  • Focus on genetic insights, such as polygenic and clinical risk scores, and ensure these are surfaced and made actionable.
  • Ensure privacy and trust by handling how members see and control their shared data.
  • Work within clinical, regulatory, and legal constraints to build a product that meets these requirements.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product management experience, preferably in consumer health and AI/ML-powered products.
  • Experience in consumer health and AI/ML-powered products.
  • Experience in a privacy-sensitive, regulated space (health, fintech).
  • Familiarity with HIPAA or genetic-data regulations.
  • Understanding of the machine learning lifecycle and ability to make trade-offs with model-building teams.
  • Data fluency, including the ability to build dashboards and define success metrics.
  • Strong communication skills to carry a product vision and work through technical trade-offs.
  • Comfort working with clinical, regulatory, and legal partners.
  • Hands-on experience building and launching AI/ML-powered products.
  • Experience with large-scale, multimodal data integration.
  • Ability to translate complex genetic information into understandable health insights.
  • Experience with BD or integrations functions to integrate third-party data.
  • Interest in collaborating with researchers on novel science.

Qualifications

  • Technical or life-sciences degree (Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Biology).
  • MBA preferred.
  • Ability to work from 23andMe's mid-Peninsula, CA office a minimum of 3 days per week.

Benefits

23andMe offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $160,000 - $200,000 for candidates based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The exact starting salary will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
