About the role

The Lead Procurement Analyst, Category Management position supports clinical research by collaborating with internal teams such as Clinical Operations and Medical Affairs. Key responsibilities include balancing business needs, supplier relationships, compliance, and cost awareness while focusing on the broader goal of advancing therapies and technologies towards patients.

Responsibilities

  • Supports clinical research by connecting internal teams with the right suppliers and ensuring services are in place when needed.
  • Executes predefined strategic sourcing processes and ensures adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Addresses and resolves routine variations within strategic sourcing processes, including supplier performance, documentation, delivery execution, pricing, and quality.
  • Develops sourcing strategies and improves sourcing patterns to enhance financial performance.
  • Assists in the development of complex category(s) or intermediate to complex categories, managing relationships with internal customers.
  • Trains stakeholders on sourcing policies, processes, and systems.
  • Administers the end-to-end sourcing process, supporting all stakeholders in executing the source-to-pay process.
  • Ensures compliance with corporate policies and procedures, corporate contracts, and departmental procedures.
  • Manages key supplier relationships, tracks performance, reduces the supply base, and enhances compliance.
  • Conducts/supervises sourcing initiatives, execution of RFIs/RFQs/RFPs, supplier qualification processes, supplier analysis, total cost analysis, negotiation of contractual terms, and supplier selection.
  • Supports corporate-level sourcing efforts and meets all business needs and/or cost savings goals.
  • Analyzes material usage and spend, develops opportunities to improve service, meet schedules, and identify savings.
  • Leads and secures supplier risk mitigation strategies for critical supplies.
  • Continuously addresses concerns and revises strategies to ensure procurement activities comply with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manages and develops Master Service Agreements (MSAs).
  • Participates in Supplier Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
  • Negotiates pricing and terms and conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences or a business field of study, or 6+ years of experience in procurement and sourcing with a Bachelor’s degree, or 8+ years with a Master’s degree.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in procurement and sourcing or closely related areas, or 6+ years with a Bachelor’s degree, or 4+ years with a Master’s degree.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Source-to-pay and ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Able to work independently and recognize potential vendor performance problems.
  • Experience in working with multiple teams and projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in life sciences or a business field of study.
  • NAPM (A.P.P. C.P.M.) or APICS (CPIM, CIRM) certification.
  • Involvement in a purchasing-related professional organization.
