Lead Process Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Process Mechanical Lead Engineer in one of our Ohio offices or Bingham Farms, MI office. As part of our team, you’ll have the chance to work on projects that bring innovative solutions to our municipal clients’ water and wastewater challenges locally and worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Plan, perform preliminary, and detailed design of water and wastewater treatment plants across Ohio and the region, including specifications and drawings associated with treatment plant upgrades and expansions.
• Prepare general arrangement drawings for treatment equipment and tanks, design piping and pumping systems, and provide oversight of construction.
• Evaluate and select equipment, piping materials and valves, assist with facility layouts, develop calculations, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and construction documents.
• Coordinate with other project disciplines, direct the work of CAD designers, and produce construction documents.
• Serve on projects as the Process Mechanical Discipline Lead, overseeing process mechanical teams and providing overall leadership to projects.
• Serve as the point of contact for the process mechanical practice, including collaborating within the community of practice, setting standards and best practices within the region, and mentoring and growing the team.
• Work across all core water technical areas: Drinking Water & Reuse, Municipal Wastewater, Distribution and Conveyance, Water Resources, and Industrial Water.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or similar degree from an accredited university or college.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in various aspects of process mechanical design of water and wastewater systems.
• Holds an active professional engineering (PE) license.
• Experience and familiarity with National Building Codes, EPA regulations, and 10 States Standards.
• Capable of working in a team environment, including giving and receiving critical feedback.
• Strong and effective verbal and written communications skills.
• Successful experience with working and managing remote domestic and international staff.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience in industrial, water, or wastewater process mechanical engineering.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software such as AFT Fathom, Pipe-Flo.
• Experience developing process flow diagrams to define mass balance.
• Experience participating in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects.
• Experience working with construction management staff to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to specifications, codes and standards, and client requirements.
• Experience during construction including installation, startup, and/or troubleshooting is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microstation and/or Autodesk design suites is a plus.

Pay & benefits

The base salary range for this position is $110,000.00 to $175,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
