Lead Plumber

As a CBRE Lead Plumber you will support a large, regulated life sciences R&D environment, ensuring the reliable operation of critical plumbing and mechanical systems that support laboratory, research, and development activities. This role is part of CBRE’s Engineering and Technical Services function, where precision, compliance, and system reliability are essential to maintaining safe, controlled laboratory operations. The position is based at a modern R&D campus offering free parking and is conveniently located within walking distance of an MBTA station.

Responsibilities

  • Assign work orders and estimate the time and materials needed to complete repairs.
  • Maintain an inventory of adequate supplies and tools.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to advanced mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems.
  • Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
  • Repair, install, replace, test, and troubleshoot the water and medical gas supply and distribution system.
  • Install new water systems, piping, and fixtures by blueprints, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Ensure waste and vent lines are in good operating condition using a plumber’s snake, vacuum plunger, or jet washer.
  • Assist other staff members or contractors on projects or equipment installations.
  • Complete plumbing safety inspections on backflow devices.
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Develop an energy management program to ensure all systems operate in the most efficient manner.
  • Oversee and inspect the work performed by outside contractors.
  • Respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisors.
  • Direct the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life.
  • Perform repairs and emergency maintenance as needed.
  • Review and sign off on inspections of building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing.
  • Apply advanced knowledge to seek and develop new, better methods for accomplishing both individual and department objectives.
  • Showcase expertise in your job discipline and in-depth knowledge of other job disciplines within the organization function.
  • Coach others to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in most or all areas within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.
  • Anticipate potential objections and persuade others, often at senior levels and of divergent interest, to adopt a different point of view.
  • Impact the achievement of customer, operational, project, or service objectives across multi-discipline teams.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5-8 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Prior shift manager or supervisory experience preferred.
  • MA Plumbing License is required.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.
  • Ability to solve unique problems using standard and innovative solutions having a broad impact on the business.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Expert organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
  • Highly sophisticated math skills, including the ability to calculate percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.

Pay

The minimum salary for the position is $45.00 per hour and the maximum salary is $53.50 per hour. The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.

Schedule

Day Shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
