About the role
The Lead Pipeline Mapper leads a team in developing pipeline mapping deliverables to support pipeline design and construction. This role ensures all mapping tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and cost-effectively with minimal supervision, reporting directly to the Mapping Manager.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team in the preparation of various mapping drawings and documentation.
- Create, review, and validate drawings and base files required for:
- Alignment Sheets
- Property Plats
- Permit Drawings
- HDD Plans
- Typical Details
- Vicinity Maps
- Environmental and Erosion Control Plans
- FERC Submittals
- Mechanical Drawings (Mainline Valves, Side Taps, Launchers/Receivers)
- Assemble and deliver complete drawing packages (hard copy and digital) to clients and contractors.
- Plot and integrate property deeds; process survey and field-collected data.
- Utilize CAD and alignment sheet generation software to produce accurate and compliant drawings.
- Participate in client and contractor meetings; represent the mapping team in multi-disciplinary discussions.
- Conduct field visits as necessary to support project delivery and resolve discrepancies.
- Support Audubon Companies’ Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures, including:
- Performing duties in a manner that protects personal and team health and safety
- Participating in required HSE training, meetings, and reporting activities
- Identifying and reporting hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions
- Following safe work practices and complying with applicable regulatory requirements
Requirements
- High School Diploma required; post-secondary education or technical certification (1–4 years) preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of direct experience in pipeline mapping/design.
- Minimum of 6 years using CAD tools in a professional setting.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required.
- Experience with alignment sheet generators such as Skyline or Route Mapper.
- Familiarity with GIS systems and Cadworx is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional presence in client-facing situations.
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when required.
- Strong attention to detail, quality, and accuracy in all deliverables.
Working Environment
Office environment with occasional field visits. Must be able to travel for site visits and project meetings. May involve exposure to construction environments and weather conditions during site work.
