About the role

The Lead Outreach Phlebotomy Technician supports the Team Leader by coordinating the daily operations of outreach phlebotomy staff. This team provides mobile phlebotomy services to nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and other care facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Performing phlebotomy and processing duties.
  • Aiding with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Maintaining timely specimen collection and processing.
  • Distributing and balancing workload among traveling phlebotomists and lab processing staff.
  • Facilitating development & training for new staff and peer sponsorship during their new hire period.
  • Assisting with supervisory duties when needed.
  • Participating in hiring process and input on employee performance, including corrective actions and evaluations.
  • Assisting the Team Lead in developing, training, and delivering educational programs for both the traveling outreach phlebotomy team and our Extended Care Clients.
  • Building a strong working relationship with internal and/or external customers to meet their needs.
  • Traveling to patient locations, which may include client facilities and house calls.

Requirements

  • Preferred qualifications include 3 years of relevant experience, with leadership experience considered a strong asset.
  • Candidates should demonstrate the ability to influence others, work independently, and maintain a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced, field-based environment.
  • Physical requirements include frequent standing and walking, manual dexterity for manipulating blood drawing equipment and making measurements, visual acuity including color distinction, and exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (must be presented upon hire or within the first 3 months of employment).
  • Graduation certificate from a formal accredited Phlebotomy program.
  • ASCP Phlebotomy Certification.
  • 3 years of experience.
  • Leadership experience preferred.

Skills

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood drawing equipment and make measurements.
  • Visual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors.
  • Ability to influence others.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Independent work capability.
  • Fast-paced, field-based environment experience.
  • Ability to travel and perform house calls.

Pay

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $20.77
Maximum hourly: $31.68

Schedule

Varying shifts available, typically 4:00am—8:00pm or 7:00am—8:00pm.
