Lead Phlebotomist

Job Summary

Provides oversight of staff and processes in Supervisor’s absence. Organizes and provides training for new hires and assists with annual competency assessment of staff. Performs a variety of venipuncture techniques involved in the collection of blood specimens from patients for laboratory procedures used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Ensures proper patient care by prioritizing physician orders and dispatching Phlebotomists to collect blood as required.

Qualifications

• Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent, and completion of a certified phlebotomy training program or on the job training.
• PREFERRED Education: Associates degree
• PREFERRED Certification: ASPT or ASCP phlebotomy certification
• Required Experience: 2 years phlebotomy experience in a hospital Lab, clinic or physicians office
• PREFERRED Experience: Supervisory or lead capacity
