Responsibilities
- Training of newly hired technicians for all aspects of their jobs.
- Scheduling and placement of technician staff.
- Aiding and directing other technicians to ensure all prescriptions and tasks are completed promptly, deliveries are made on schedule, and scheduled employee break times are observed.
- Collaborating with technician staff (e.g., Knowledge Link, new programs, policies, and processes).
- Maintaining knowledge of all technician positions and covering them as needed.
- Training pharmacists and interns on QS1, POS, and robotics.
- Coordinating with computer software vendors to resolve hardware and software issues, and notifying other stores on the server of issues as necessary.
- Assisting Pharmacy supervisors with insurance audits.
- Processing prescriptions through the pharmacy system, including adjudication of claims to third-party insurance plans, filling medication orders in a timely and accurate manner, recognizing common drug names, and selecting appropriate drugs, dosage forms, strengths, and quantities, as appropriate for review by the Pharmacist.
- Completing and recording all maintenance required for automated pharmacy counters.
- Maintaining par levels and reordering all pharmacy dispensing supplies.
- Assisting in maintaining adequately stocked cash registers using petty cash.
- Supporting implementation of all management initiatives for pharmacy support staff.
- Providing timely communication to Pharmacists for various activities, including proper customer service, patient/employee safety, operational/schedule needs, and inventory control.
Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician - PTCB
- Registered Technician (PA State Board of Pharmacy)
- High School Diploma
- 2 to 4 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician I
