Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate patient care, assessment, education, triage, and various other nursing interventions
  • Collaborate with colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate care
  • Empathetically care for patients during all stages of preventive services, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up along the continuum of care
  • Demonstrate competency and use comprehensive nursing expertise
  • Provide advanced medical care to patients as a lead paramedic
  • Aid in patient care in receiving facilities, including lifting and moving patients as required
  • Assist with monitoring productivity and tracking Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
  • Act as a formal resource for the EMS staff
  • Attend training classes to maintain national certification, state licensure, and stay updated on new developments in the field
  • Complete academic assessments in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including but not limited to AACN, ACEN, and NLN CNEA. Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possesses multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
  • Obtains and maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree in Paramedic Technology or Paramedicine preferred. Minimum of two years of experience as a paramedic in an Ambulance setting
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of paramedic principles, practices, and techniques, knowledge of equipment, and troubleshooting skills
  • Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must hold national registry status at a Paramedic level. Additional licenses as required depending on state; Paramedic (PAR) Certification, NIMS ICS100, 200, and 700 completed, and continuing education hours as mandated by accreditation
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and have a good driving record

Schedule

Shifts are varied and may include 12-hour shifts, varying weekly hours, and potential for overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
