Lead Neurodiagnostic Tech (Day Shift)

Join our team of Life Changers at UPMC Harrisburg as a Full-Time Lead Neurodiagnostic Technician.

Schedule

• 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• On-call, holiday, and weekend rotations (details discussed during interview)
• Travel required: 75% during training period, 50% after training to other hospitals in Central PA

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee the ordering of supplies according to established guidelines and budget.
• Oversee scheduling of patients to ensure proper utilization of time and patient beds.
• Maintain, order, and clean all monitoring supplies for patients.
• Participate in and coordinate the EEG or EMG Training Program.
• Devise and implement a monthly technical staff schedule considering PTO, comp days, patient acuity, and ancillary testing.
• Provide biweekly payroll for all technical, nursing, and support staff.
• Attend and participate in administrative meetings as required.
• Work closely with and provide coverage for peer Lead EEG or EMG Technologist when needed.
• Ensure patient safety by verifying junior staff EEG techs follow patient identification guidelines.
• Coordinate care, flow, and prioritization of EEG (EMG) exams.
• Work closely and communicate with physicians and mid-level providers.
• Oversee and review the work of the EEG or EMG technical staff.
• Ensure daily billing and coding procedures meet departmental and hospital requirements.
• Assist in the annual review of the EEG or EMG technical staff.
• Assist in establishing and suggesting changes for departmental policy/procedures.
• Perform all duties of an EEG or EMG Technologist III.
• Ensure junior staff techs follow established seizure safety and first aid guidelines.
• Ensure EEG or EMG digital data is maintained and permanently archived per departmental procedure.
• Maintain or arrange for maintenance of all EEG or EMG equipment, ensuring it is kept clean and in proper working order.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in EEG or EMG.
• Registered by one of the Neurodiagnostic credentialing societies.
• Organizational and leadership ability to plan and oversee operations of a busy EEG or EMG Lab.
• Computer and networking skills to troubleshoot, manage, and maintain an advanced EEG digital network.
• Ability to adapt technical procedures and equipment to achieve desired results.
• Ability to assess and train EEG or EMG technical staff in new or changing technology.
• Proficiency in computer skills.

Qualifications

Preferred: Completion of an Associate's degree in physical or biological sciences.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

• American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (R.EEG.T) OR
• American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (R.NCS.T) OR
• American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (CNCT) OR
• American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists OR
• Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (CNCT) OR
• Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T.)
• CPR required based on AHA standards (didactic and skills demonstration within 30 days of hire)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting (with renewal)
• Act 33 (with renewal)
• Act 34 (with renewal)
• Act 73 FBI Clearance (with renewal)
