About the role
We are inviting applications for the role of Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) Screening Specialist Midwife to join the Screening team within the Women’s Clinical Service Unit. The ANNB Screening Lead Midwife will work within a team of midwives and failsafe officers across both hospital sites—Leeds General Infirmary and St James Hospital.
The ANNB Screening team manages screening results for all patients booked to deliver at Leeds and collaborates with the Fetal Medicine Unit, a tertiary referral centre for the North East. You will lead and be part of a knowledgeable and friendly team of midwives, failsafe officers, and administrative staff, working together with a patient-centred approach to support families accessing our screening programmes.

Responsibilities
- Display clinical leadership skills and knowledge of ANNB screening programmes.
- Provide regular reports regarding KPIs as set by NHS England.
- Implement new and national ANNB screening standards, recommendations, and pathways.
- Develop relationships and liaise with screening and diagnostic laboratories, the fetal medicine team, NHS England Screening Quality team, and child health information services on behalf of the trust.
- Report and investigate ANNB screening incidents, including SIAF and RCA reports.
