Lead Medical Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Meet and maintain all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to the position.
• Develop medical clinic staffing schedules and assignments; provide solutions to resolve staffing gaps.
• Train medical staff to ensure competence in assigned positions and compliance with all training requirements, including CPR, First Aid, BLS, and emergency response preparedness.
• Educate Compass Connections staff and service population on medical best practices and contagious disease control.
• Validate completion of nursing duties in compliance with regulatory authorities and program protocols, including assessments, charting, observations, immunizations, and reporting.
• Supervise, direct, and oversee site medical staff to execute healthcare plans and treatment orders, including medication administration.
• Communicate with pharmacies to order prescription medications, verify accuracy, and remediate discrepancies.
• Consult and interact with leadership on policy issues affecting healthcare quality and contagious disease control.
• Maintain adequate over-the-counter medication supplies and arrange proper disposal of unused/expired medications.
• Document and reconcile controlled drugs per facility protocols and procedures.
• Provide required facility documentation and reporting to meet Compass Connections, federal, and state guidelines.
• Oversee and audit the development of Medication Administration Records (MARs) for each child.
• Arrange transport for children to healthcare appointments, including medical, dental, therapy, and counseling visits.
• Participate in developing health and medical-related protocols and procedures for federal programs.
• Attend scheduled meetings, contribute to team decisions, and support operations.
• Maintain confidentiality of healthcare records in compliance with HIPAA and Compass Connections protocols.
• Apply positive behavior management techniques, including verbal redirection and de-escalation.
• Recognize signs of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and sexually provocative behavior; implement reporting and documenting procedures.
• Demonstrate compassionate and professional appreciation for children while minimizing cultural misinterpretations.
• Adhere to scheduled hours, including on-call availability, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Plan, organize, and prioritize daily work using sound judgment.
• Implement safety protocols, including emergency evacuations.
• Uphold professional and ethical standards outlined in the employee handbook.
• Supervise and perform nursing duties to meet or exceed guidelines established by the Texas Board of Nursing.
• Coordinate services and train medical staff following state, federal, and Compass Connections policies.
• Implement and monitor healthcare plans as prescribed by advanced practice providers or physicians.
• Complete accurate documentation per agency policies, contract requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Review, write, and update medical protocols in collaboration with the Medical Services team.
• Meet all pre-determined deadlines required by program and federal partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (required).
• Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of program.
• Current BLS certification (PALS preferred); First Aid and CPR certifications.
• Five (5) years of experience as a registered nurse and two (2) years of management experience.
• Pass a pre-employment and random drug screens throughout employment.
• Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
• Pass pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.
• Demonstrated ability to:
  • Respond sensitively to cultural and socio-economic characteristics of the service population.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, service providers, and professionals.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining emotional control and professional composure.
  • Maintain computer literacy required for the position.
  • Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team without intensive supervision.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Compass Connections policies and procedures.
• Complete and sign Operations Policy and Procedure review and certification.
• Provide current physical-medical release and proof of immunizations, titers, or declinations for:
  • MMR
  • Varicella
  • HepB
  • HepA
  • Tetanus
  • PPD
  • Meningococcal (preferred)
• Ability to perform physical activities such as extensive walking, lifting patients, stretching, and bending.
• Strong professional people skills, including oral, written, listening, and non-verbal communication.

Pay

$113,256.00 annually.
