Lead Medical Assistant
About the role
The Lead Medical Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing exceptional care to patients at Concentra. Reporting to the Center Operation Director, this position oversees a team of Medical Support Specialists to ensure clinical care is executed efficiently and service is delivered to all customers.
Responsibilities
Perform DOT and non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and ancillary testing.
Absorb and assist providers during examination and treatment.
Complete routine medical procedures and triage emergent patients.
Dispense medications and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) as ordered by the treating clinician.
Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms.
Operate and maintain medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping.
Notify leadership of equipment issues, supply needs, or facility operational concerns.
Assist with patient flow and volume management.
Communicate with patients, obtain authorizations, check-in/check-out, and distribute employer results/paperwork.
Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
Attend center staff meetings or huddles as required.
Participate in initial and ongoing training as required.
Perform Human Performance Evaluations under the direction of a certified clinician or therapist.
Qualifications
Education: Vocational/Technical/Business School Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited school (credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulations).
Experience: Customarily has at least six months or more of medical assistant experience.
Knowledge: Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) preferred.
