Lead Mainframe Operations Engineer

Location: Allen, TX

Pay Range: $34/hr on W2

About the Role

Participate in planning, development, and implementation of infrastructure solutions involving cross-functional technical experts. Serve as a technology domain subject matter expert (SME), communicating solutions effectively across technical, managerial, and vendor audiences. Lead resolution processes for complex problems, analyzing situations and data to evaluate various factors. Establish input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility and subsystem integration. Support multiple projects and initiatives related to operations and special initiatives within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead mainframe operations in a large-scale multi-platform data center.
• Act as a subject matter expert for mainframe environments, including JES3/JES2, MVS commands, and console operations.
• Utilize mainframe tools such as MAINVIEW, Omegamon, and Tivoli.
• Manage ticketing tools like BMC Remedy.
• Oversee VTAM/SNA, IPL, and POR procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of console operations experience in a large-scale multi-platform data center.
• Expert knowledge of mainframe environments, including JES3/JES2, MVS commands, and console operations.
• Strong understanding of CICS control and mainframe tools such as MAINVIEW, Omegamon, Tivoli, and others.
• Experience with ticketing tools like BMC Remedy.
• Familiarity with VTAM/SNA, IPL, and POR procedures.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent experience/certification in Computer Arts/Science with a focus on mainframe technologies.
• ITIL certifications and ITSM knowledge are a plus.
