About the role

The Interior Lead Tech requires an advanced knowledge of aircraft cabinets and interior installations. The job involves leading the modification, repair, refurbishment and fabrication of aircraft cabinets. The job includes varying amounts of parts replacement and general technical applications. The ability to evaluate and adjust on modifications is essential. Training and maintaining workflow will be essential. Job duties will vary by type and scope as designated by the Interior Team Leader. Will be required to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage cabinet modifications and installations by communicating with the CAE Director of Maintenance and various other departmental staff, determining flow for completing assignments.
  • Perform quality checks, supervise and assign personnel on daily activities.
  • Perform training, coaching and mentoring of team members to develop the job knowledge and performance of Interior Techs.
  • Prepare and deliver annual performance evaluations of assigned team members.
  • Assist with engineering on design for major modification projects.
  • Completely removes, repairs and modifies aircraft cabinets with little or no supervision.
  • Work independently on projects.
  • Perform daily turnover sheets, work order processes and tooling when required.
  • Assist with training to ensure job knowledge and performance of interior personnel.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of supervisory training classes preferred.
  • 8+ years prior experience in aircraft cabinets.
  • Exclusive knowledge in all areas of the job.
  • Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common.
  • Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
  • Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
  • Reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
  • Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
  • Maintain customer oriented work habits.
  • Assist in major modification work as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifts 50 lbs.
  • Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
  • Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands with emphasis on grasping, feeling and finger dexterity.
  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas.

Mental Requirements

  • Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines including but not limited to OSHA, Hazmat, etc.
  • Work with others in a professional manner.
  • Read and comprehend various documents.
  • Plan and organize procedures and operations.

Supervision

  • Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Interior Management.
  • May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.
  • Work with minimal supervision when required.

Working Conditions

  • The majority of work will be performed in a hangar or shop environment.
  • Work outside on the ramp on occasion.
  • Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used

  • Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
  • Electrical power tools such as sanders, saws, power drills, etc.
  • Sheet metal cutters, glue guns and metal benders.
  • Computer, copy machine, work order print outs and standard office equipment.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $35-$42. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience and performance. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).

Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position on the 2nd shift. Flexible work schedules include 5x8, 4x10 and 3x12.
