This is a field-based role in the Chicagoland area requiring regular travel to customer home locations and participation in an on-call schedule.
Responsibilities
- Complete a variety of tasks associated with quality installation of residential HVAC equipment.
- Receive routed work from dispatch, report to assigned job site on time, and perform work to the company’s quality expectations.
- Promote warranty products to Oncourse Home Solutions customers.
- Use a valid driver’s license to drive a company vehicle and maintain refrigerant certification.
- Work and drive safely at all times while maintaining residential HVAC equipment.
- Provide the customer with the highest levels of customer service.
- Understand and comply with all safety policies, including calibrating gas sensing tools every month.
- Install most furnaces, condensers, humidifiers, and accessories without assistance.
- Master all electrical wiring of furnaces, condensers, and thermostats, including high and low voltage wiring.
- Understand and comply with inventory policies and procedures; account for use of inventory in assigned work.
- Install sheet metal duct systems, connect gas lines, cut and thread pipe, and install copper refrigerant lines to air conditioning units, including soldering and brazing.
- Complete all assigned tasks, including billing customers correctly, ordering parts and materials, and handling paperwork properly, timely, and legibly.
- Install HVAC-related equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions and use good time management to minimize non-productive time.
- Cycle count inventory upon procurement’s request.
- Demonstrate attention to detail involving payroll to minimize reclass data entries at month-end.
- Demonstrate a high level of technical competence and use a variety of analytical techniques to solve problems.
- Comply with all corporate and department policies and procedures and develop strong credibility with co-workers and department leadership.
- Accurately diagnose problems or conditions and use good people skills and judgment with customers to provide the highest level of customer service.
- Work with the PHS Prevention and Safety Team to keep safety the #1 priority by submitting good catches from the field.
- Maintain expected productivity, quality, and safety metrics as outlined by the NHS Field Operations Department.
- Show a willingness to continue learning and take additional training to develop proficiency in the field, including in-house, manufacturer, and after-hours training.
Qualifications
- HVAC certification or vocational/skill training experience in HVAC in lieu of certification.
- Minimum 3 years of HVAC experience preferred.
- High School diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites.
- iPad usage.
Pay
The base pay range for this position is $32.24 to $47.50 per hour. The specific pay offered will depend on qualifications, experience, education, and skill set. The compensation offered may also include an annual performance-based bonus, sales incentive plan, or commission target.
