Lead Human Resource Assistant (Military/Office Automation).
About the Role
Coach, facilitate, and resolve work problems within the MEPS Processing Element. Provide input to supervisors on employee performance, progress, training needs, and disciplinary issues. Perform Human Resources Assistant duties. Certify proper enlistment conduct by verifying system-displayed contracts and ensuring all disclosed information is supplied to the service representative. Offer routine technical assistance or training to users of automated personnel database systems.
Responsibilities
- Coach and facilitate resolution of work problems within the MEPS Processing Element.
- Provide input to supervisors regarding employee performance, progress, training needs, and disciplinary problems.
- Perform Human Resources Assistant duties identical to those led by supervisors.
- Certify that enlistment has been properly conducted by verifying system-displayed contracts and ensuring all additional disclosed information is supplied to the service representative.
- Provide routine technical assistance or training to users of automated personnel database systems.
- Perform records management of electronic and paper applicant records.
- Enter data in automated systems to record applicant processing information.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has been designated as non-sensitive and requires a personnel security background check.
- May require working occasional Saturdays and/or shift work (before 0600 or after 1800 hours).
- Routinely requires unscheduled overtime to accommodate fluctuations in workload based on daily mission requirements.
- Must successfully complete the Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training within 30 days of onboarding and/or as required to access the MHS GENESIS System.
- Must be a qualified typist, able to type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
- Must meet one of the specified employment authority categories (e.g., current Department of Army Civilian Employees, Veterans Employment Opportunity Act, etc.).
Qualifications
To qualify, you must meet the education/experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
- At least one year of specialized experience, defined as experience providing administrative support to a Reception-Administration Control Desk, questioning applicants to obtain/verify data for processing, performing records management, and entering data in automated systems.
- Specialized experience should be equivalent to the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
- No substitution of education for experience is permitted for this job.
- If you are a current Federal employee, you must include your pay plan, series, and grade in your resume and/or provide supporting documentation (within-grade increase SF50) to show you meet the time-in-grade requirement (52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent, GS-05).
- Foreign education must be evaluated by a private organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education programs and deemed equivalent to a U.S. education program.
