About the role
The Lead Financial Analyst serves as a strategic financial advisor and business partner to the Canadian business unit, with clear accountability for influencing operating and strategic decisions, providing data-driven insights that support performance and alignment with company strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to business unit leadership by proactively identifying financial risks, opportunities, and value drivers, and by recommending data-backed courses of action that influence key business decisions.
- Lead monthly financial and business review discussions, elevating reporting into forward-looking insights, scenario analysis, and implications for strategic and operational decision-making.
- Develop, monitor, and interpret KPIs to assess progress against strategic and operational goals, identifying trends, root causes, and recommended actions.
- Anticipate market, competitive, and business dynamics and advise leadership on financial implications, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Leverage emerging technologies, automation, and advanced analytics to enhance financial insight generation and decision quality.
- Lead monthly close and management review processes, ensuring accuracy while framing results in the context of business performance, strategic objectives, and forward outlook.
- Conduct complex financial analysis to evaluate alternatives, challenge assumptions, and guide management decisions.
- Design and standardize financial reporting processes and templates to enable consistent, scalable, and decision-oriented insights across the organization.
- Analyze expense trends and cost drivers, clearly articulating root causes, risks and improvement opportunities to senior leadership.
- Own preparation and interpretation of monthly P&L results, connecting financial outcomes to operational drivers and strategic priorities.
- Lead annual operating plan, forecast, and projection processes, partnering with stakeholders to evaluate scenarios, trade-offs, and resource allocation decisions.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls while advising the business on financial governance implications of decisions and initiatives.
- Deliver ad-hoc analysis using Excel, Power BI, and advanced analytics to address emerging business questions.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities that enhance analytical efficiency, insight quality, and scalability.
- Lead and support financial workstreams within cross-functional and global initiatives, influencing alignment, and timely decision-making without direct authority.
- Partner with Accounting/CoE teams to ensure accurate month-end close while proactively addressing issues that may impact business performance or reporting integrity.
Essentials of the Role

- Maintain and analyze data using tools like Excel, SAP, or HRIS systems.
- Prepare reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders.
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate initiative in identifying process improvements or automation opportunities.
- Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain secure handling of sensitive information.
- Travel frequently, including overnight and occasional weekend travel.
Education & Work Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with 8-12 years of related experience.
- CPA or Master's degree in Finance preferred.
- Experience in the medical device industry preferred.
- Deep expertise with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Power BI, Power Query, and other advanced analytics tools.
- Experience with SAP and BPC.
- Technical expertise in Power BI.
