Lead Engineer, HP NonStop Development (REMOTE option)
This position is eligible for remote work anywhere within the United States. Candidates within a commutable distance to corporate offices in Saint Petersburg, FL, Denver, CO, Memphis, TN, or Southfield, MI will follow a hybrid work schedule (2–3 days per week in the office). This role is not eligible for work visa sponsorship.
About the role
As part of the Back Office development team, this Lead HP NonStop Engineer will analyze business requirements and problems, delivering quality technical solutions for IT securities back office applications. Responsibilities include the BOM Corporate Actions modernization, UST netting regulatory projects, and maintaining the existing securities back-office portfolio. The role involves full systems life cycle activities, including designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting application software.
Responsibilities
- Develop existing applications and contribute to new ones by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement.
- Design and perform software tests for websites/applications, responding to user emails to monitor, diagnose, and correct performance issues.
- Monitor, identify, and correct complex software defects to maintain fully functioning applications.
- Recommend development of new code or reuse of existing code.
- Lead assigned projects, including task assignment, coordination, and performance monitoring.
- Recommend new technologies and methodologies to meet business needs and resolve problems.
- Identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; compare data from different sources to draw conclusions.
- Evaluate information on reporting formats, costs, and security needs to determine hardware configuration.
- Participate in software system testing, validation, programming, and documentation.
- Provide technical advice and assist in solving programming problems.
- Write and review system specifications, including output requirements and flow charts.
- Create and maintain technical and user documentation, ensuring backups for instant recovery.
- Ensure proper analysis of problems and programming approaches to prevent rework and schedule slippage.
- Convey information clearly through various media to engage audiences effectively.
- Demonstrate technical and professional skill, staying current with developments in areas of expertise.
- Develop and use collaborative relationships to achieve work goals.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- More than five years of relevant development or engineering experience.
- Experience in HP NonStop COBOL85, HPNS SQL/MX, and SQL/MP.
- Experience with Pathway servers and configuration.
- Experience in HP NonStop/Tandem Guardian OS application development.
- Full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience.
- Experience with Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid software development methodologies.
- Experience with brokerage and clearing business/industry is a plus.
- Experience with Middle Office and Back Office domains is a strong plus.
- Experience with messaging platforms (e.g., MQ) is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Experience working in remote and globally distributed environments using collaboration tools like email, phone, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Azure-DevOps.
- Occasional non-standard shifts, including nights and/or weekends, and on-call responsibilities (once every 8-9 weeks).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Science or equivalent (High School diploma required).
- 3 to 6 years of general work experience.
Pay
Salary range: $75,000.00 – $140,000.00.
