Job Responsibilities
- Design responsible for Electronic design for LED lighting in automotive applications.
- Ability to assemble a quotation estimate for an automotive application project.
- Responsible for Test plan development to customer specifications (Stellantis, GM, Ford, etc).
- May lead or participate in R&D development activities within the organization.
- May prepare project funding requests for R&D activities.
- Conducts or leads failure analysis and investigation of electronic failures or incidents.
- Create detailed SORs for testing and outsourcing of electronic manufacturing.
- Lead research, design and develop of electronics for new, existing programs in compliance with automotive standards and customer specifications from concept development to production launch.
- Development of analog, digital circuitry, power electronics and embedded software for automotive exterior lighting.
- The Main point of contact for electrical designs. Interface with cross-functional departments, suppliers and customer with respect to electronic product development, validations and manufacturing.
- Project management of sourced electronic designs; manage third party activities.
- Management of cost, and quality of electronic products.
- Monitor and analyze any product failure, and provide recommendations to Quality engineering.
- Develop and test prototypes to ensure design intent and specifications are satisfied.
- Develop PCB layouts for production designs using appropriate PCB technologies.
- Ensure electrical designs and layouts meet EMC, Environmental and Lighting requirements.
- Conducting Schematic level circuit simulation for continuous improvement of designs.
- Create electrical and EMC design validation test plans according to customer requirements and get customer approvals.
- Deliver and Manage the required documentations i.e. BOM, 3D Cad, drawings and prototypes to product development team.
- Create, support and realize benchmark activity linked to electrical designs.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years electronics development background.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalent industry experience.
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Must have detailed electronic component knowledge.
- Must have experience with Microprocessor based designs.
- Knowledge of Electronic manufacturing, quality and technical standards (IPC, ISO, etc.).
- Proficiency with the use of electronic testing equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot electronic designs.
- Clear understanding of EMC design.
- Prior exposure to Automotive OEM specifications/standards an asset.
- Prior exposure to Automotive Lighting specifications/standards an asset.
- Experience with Altium designer or similar PCB schematic capture and PCB layout software.
- Familiar with 3D CAD and 2D drawing software.

- Above average communication skills (written & verbal) with various departments within Magna and with customer plant liaisons.

- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems related to electronic design and manufacturing.
