About the role

The Lead Maintenance Engineer oversees decisions on operating adjustments, maintains all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building equipment to ensure optimal functionality. This role requires providing detailed and technical maintenance support for all levels of maintenance and repairs, supervising other maintenance associates on the 2nd shift, and being the primary point person for mechanical issues during the shift.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Provide experienced, detailed, and technical maintenance support for all levels of maintenance and repairs.
  • Supervise other Maintenance associates on the 2nd shift.
  • Be the point person for mechanical issues during the 2nd shift.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all HVAC equipment and electrical systems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot equipment gauges to assess performance and adjust as needed.
  • Perform repairs to property HVAC system, including changing filters, cleaning coils, replacing motors, belts, and repairing water distribution pumps.
  • Perform routine run testing of all generators, checking batteries, fuel levels, and performing maintenance.
  • Perform major plumbing repairs, cutting, joining, and soldering copper and PVC pipes and fixtures.
  • Trace and repair all types of water lines, including domestic, HVAC, equipment, sewer, etc.
  • Lead in preventative maintenance, advanced evaluation, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial kitchen, cleaning, and catering equipment.
  • Perform and maintain work to local, state, and federal codes, including boilers, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Diagnose and repair small cleaning equipment.
  • Train maintenance associates in understanding of commercial kitchen equipment and systems, including ovens, steam kettles, coolers, and BAS and mechanical systems.
  • Use electronic devices (TMA/CMMS) for recording work activity, generating, receiving, and scheduling work orders and preventative maintenance requests.
  • Complete assigned work orders for general repair within assigned time frame to achieve operational efficiency of the property, its safety, and its equipment.
  • Immediately and courteously respond to guests' needs to repair and resolve room maintenance requests and problems as they arise.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field required.
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Trade school and/or College course work in related field preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • EPA Refrigeration Technician Certification.
  • Stationary Engineer License from Chicago or Elgin preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Qualifications

  • Flexible shifts and long hours occasionally required.
  • Heavy work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Comfort level with operating and working from a lift up to 40 feet high.

Pay

The starting rate for this position is $40/hour plus a $.50 shift differential.

Schedule

The schedule will be 3pm-11:30pm.
