About the Role

The Lead Distribution Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Supply Chain Technicians. This includes process improvements, relationship building, establishing and monitoring performance expectations, and maintaining morale. The Lead Distribution Specialist oversees the process to input products/goods received and/or oversees delivery, tracking, and documentation of patient care supplies. Assists in the assignment of daily tasks for the distribution team and ensures tasks are performed as prescribed in the staff’s job descriptions. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promotes a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Responsibilities

• Lead all of the day-to-day supply chain functions in assigned area of responsibility that may include receiving/dock, LUM/PAR areas.
• Coordinate with Procurement to address backorders and manage appropriate action and communication to clinical teams.
• Coordinate with Procurement to keep staff and customers informed of the status of product conversions.
• Review storage locations to ensure the proper rotation of time-sensitive items and proper location.
• Lead handling of incoming and outgoing shipments, ensure appropriate entry of Goods Receipts and verification of merchandise.
• Review shortage or overstock of merchandise and damaged goods and resolve issues, when possible, in collaboration with Procurement and Clinical teams.
• Proactively inform management of supply and/or customer issues that are unable to be resolved.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clinical staff and external customers to promote efficient patient care.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) related to supply chain functions to promote single point of contact service for customers for supply chain needs.
• Review daily orders to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained and replenished.
• Perform all Supply Chain Technician job functions and responsibilities at an advanced level while being a mentor to staff.
• Identify and implement department improvements (safety, process flows, shelf spacing optimization, scheduling, FIFO rotations, Par Optimization, input and analysis of metrics, tracking daily output and performance of staff, reporting of product outages and increased utilization).
• Work closely with nursing floors and staff to perform all par maintenance functions including adjustments as needed with the assistance from Supply Chain Systems team.
• Plan and schedule work of stockroom, warehouse, or receiving/dock personnel ensuring proper distribution of assignments, adequate staffing, space, and facilities for subsequent performance of tasks. Maximizes employee efficiencies of all shift work and schedules.
• Manage the attendance of assigned staff (document tardiness, PTO, etc.).
• Meet regularly with department personnel, supply chain leadership, and customers to resolve issues of concern.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in distribution, warehousing, shipping, receiving, logistics, material handling, customer service, inventory control, or other comparable service line.
• Experience leading, supervising, and/or mentoring staff is highly preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Advanced knowledge and application of Inventory Management practices.
• Excellent communication, computer, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime with short notice.
• Experience with Workday or other Supply Chain ERP system.
