Position Overview
The Texas Water Company is seeking a Distribution Lead to oversee a team of Distribution Technicians in maintaining, repairing, and installing water distribution system assets. This role ensures smooth daily operations and supports administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedules and coordinates resources to establish and meet company initiatives and goals.
- Partners with the Superintendent and Supervisor to manage the team effectively.
- Liaises between crew and leadership to ensure crew members contribute to company goals and reflect company values.
- Supports administrative tasks such as work order creation and closure, operations and maintenance documentation, production reports, and other computer-based tasks.
- Maintains inventory parts and tools, including reconciliation of orders, packing slips, and budget maintenance.
- Maintains and coordinates the installation and upkeep of distribution system assets, including flushing mains, hydrant maintenance, service box repairs, meter service, and other system upkeep as needed.
- Coordinates with contractors on tasks while ensuring compliance with State Department of Health regulations.
- Oversees call before you dig activities and ensures compliance with State Department of Health.
- Maintains fleet cleanliness and equipment maintenance.
- Responds independently to all emergency situations and assists other Distribution Technicians with decisions on less routine on-call issues.
- Responds 24/7 to distribution emergencies, including assembling a team, notifying internal and external emergency contacts, notifying customers, and handling paperwork and permits.
- Adheres to all company safety rules, including following the Company Safety Manual, MUTCD, OSHA regulations, and other applicable rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED and 5+ years of relevant professional experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
- CDL License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
- Valid Class B Water Distribution License.
- Relevant certifications required for the team's needs or directed by management.
- Subject matter expert in one or more functional areas of water system construction, flushing programs, and hydrant upkeep.
- Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
- Customer Service Experience Required.
- Ability to perform physical activities including lifting, bending, squatting, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions, as well as using heavy weight tools and materials.
