About the role
Kenosha County Circuit Court is seeking a Lead Deputy Court Clerk for the Family Unit. This advanced leadership position supports court operations by assisting management in training staff, improving processes, ensuring proper court record management, and enhancing program knowledge. The role involves supervising Deputy Court Clerks and Deputy Court Clerks Senior, optimizing efficiencies, and meeting statutory requirements under the direction of the Clerk of Court and assigned supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Provide record and financial case management assistance to unit staff using state and county policies and reports
- Ensure timely and accurate indexing, filing, and scanning of court documents
- Process payments, issue receipts, and complete account and data entry duties
- Ensure unit staff compliance with Model Court Recordkeeping procedures
- Assist with training and development of unit staff in coordination with management
- Monitor training needs of unit staff and provide support related to Court policies and processes
- Remain flexible with work assignments within the unit
- Collaborate on proper caseload management with court staff
- Represent the Clerk of Court’s office at state or local meetings
- Prepare and review reports associated with caseload management as needed by management
- Prepare and disseminate calendars
- Work directly with management to create efficiencies that enhance day-to-day operations and customer service
- Perform all duties associated with a Deputy Court Clerk within the unit, including clerking in a courtroom
- Serve as liaison to stakeholders, including law enforcement, litigants, attorneys, and service providers
- Maintain electronic court files
- Prepare documents and follow procedures in accordance with statutory time limits
- Explain court procedures, processes, rules, and requirements without providing legal advice
- Perform financial transactions
- Perform other duties as assigned or required
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Post-secondary education relative to office or clerical skills
- Minimum two years of experience in Circuit Court Family Unit or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Ability to become and maintain a Notary Public in Wisconsin
- Ability to work overtime as required
- Professional attire and demeanor

- Knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures
- Familiarity with CCAP database, court-related financial duties, and court recordkeeping policies
- Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing tasks rapidly
- Handle multiple procedural processes simultaneously

Pay
2026 hiring range: $25.65 – $29.15 per hour. Pay grade: NE9 (minimum $25.65 – maximum $32.65).
