About the role
Performs clerical, reception, and bookkeeping duties necessary to facilitate the work of Justice Court under the direction of the Justice Court Clerk.
Responsibilities
- Assists the public in civil and criminal matters and court procedures.
- Answers multi-line telephones.
- Dockets criminal and civil court cases electronically.
- Receives payments and reconciles daily.
- Maintains court records.
- Attends trainings as assigned.
- Handles confidential records with discretion.
- Works with the public in highly confrontational, emotionally charged, or uncomfortable circumstances.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Clerical experience.
- Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and filing systems.
- Training and ability to operate a word processor, database software, and other office equipment.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating well with others.
- Ability to attend professional clerk trainings.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must successfully pass a drug screening and background check.
Legal experience is helpful but not required.
