Lead Delivery Specialist

About the role
The Specialist, Delivery Lead is responsible for the efficient delivery of all customer products and will lead and direct the Delivery Specialists. This position focuses on hands-on training of new Delivery Specialists, ongoing monitoring of route drivers, and ensuring high standards of customer service and organization. The Lead Delivery Specialist should be proficient in route balancing and familiar with systems such as RACE, MS Word, and MS Excel. This role may also oversee Desktop Delivery Specialists.
Responsibilities
- Provide training and coaching to new and existing Delivery Specialists.
- Offer technical training and problem-solving resources.
- Provide input for performance reviews.
- Assist management with vehicle safety and building security issues.
- Allocate resources to ensure timely deliveries as defined by customer requirements and expectations.
- Communicate customer feedback to appropriate supervisory personnel.
- Develop and contribute ideas for operational improvements using LEAN practices.
- Ensure proper completion of all required paperwork.
- Assist management with route design, balancing, and dispatch, including training and follow-up on driver and vehicle safety, as well as State and Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance.
- Assume supervisory functions in the absence of the direct manager or supervisor.
- Serve as a route back-up driver when necessary.
- Adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures.
- Perform driver safety checks as needed for follow-up or retraining.
- Participate in the Safety Committee and conduct Tier 1 meetings.
- Assist in meetings with new customers and onsite visits.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent education preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field.
- At least two years of delivery experience preferred.
- Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of systems, tools, and processes in a delivery environment preferred.
- CDL may be required in states where necessary.
- Computer skills preferred; valid driver’s license required.
- Clean driving record.
- Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required for operating delivery vehicles exceeding 26,000 lb. Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW).
- Department of Transportation (DOT) qualification.
- Familiarity with computer and transportation systems preferred; GIS computer programs preferred.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing using the English language (English competency).
- Professional representation of the company during customer deliveries.
- Strong job performance and behavior, demonstrated through teamwork, attendance, customer service, and productivity.
- Basic product knowledge.
- Knowledge of operation of power/mobile equipment.
- Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Geographical knowledge of the delivery service area.

- Ability to transport single cartons up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to use manual pallet jacks to transport pallets of products up to 2,500 pounds.
- Ability to work in all seasons due to varied climates.
- Repetitive lifting, carrying, climbing in and out of vehicles, and continuous walking, including stairs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $28.00/hour to $32.00/hour, with adjustments made to comply with all state and local minimum wage requirements.
